Brick, wood, and stone in and around Old Town
Winchester was founded in 1744 and calls itself the oldest Virginia city west of the Blue Ridge. It looks the part. The city's historic district covers about forty-five blocks and more than 1,200 properties: rowhouses, wood-sided houses, early log and stone buildings, and low limestone or brick walls along some front yards.
